DOTHAN—Zack’s Family Restaurant was not only a Wiregrass staple; it was also recognized by AL.com for being Alabama’s Best Meat-and-Three in 2017. After a devastating fire forced the restaurant owners to close, the home cooking restaurant is planning to reopen on November 11.
The new restaurant space will open at 1495 Headland Avenue, in a new building at the same old location.
Zack’s Family Restaurant will be open for lunch Sundays through Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The restaurant was founded in 1995 in Cottonwood, but then moved to Slocomb; they finally sold the Slocomb location and moved to Dothan in 2006. In July 2022, a bucket of kitchen towels spontaneously combusted, causing serious damage to the restaurant and forcing it to close.
