The 2015 Southeast Alabama 4-H Chick Chain Show and Auction will be held Saturday, October 3rd at the Ag-Plex Arena in Ozark, AL. This event marks the completion of a 20 week project where 4-H members have cared for and raised 18 pullets (young female chickens). These 4-H’ers began their journey by selecting 18 tiny day old chicks (six each of three different breeds) with the intention to grow egg-laying birds. The youth will select the three best birds of the same breed from their flock to bring to the 4-H Chick Chain Show and Auction. Once there, each pen of three pullets will be judged ba sed on health and appearance. Breeds represented at the show include some of the better egg-la yers: Buff Orpington, Black Laced Golden Wyandotte, Dominique, Rhode Island Red and Easter Egger. Grand and reserve champion winners will be awarded by county and overall by breed.Showmanship @ 2; Bird viewing time prior to auction starts @ 3:30; Auction @ 4 at the Ozark Ag-Plex Arena.
