An Enterprise dog owner said her pet died minutes after coming home from a nearby boarding kennel. Aubrey Held said one dog died and the other was in rough shape after staying in a boarding kennel in Enterprise. Held uploaded pictures of her two dogs to Facebook that showed graphic images of the two dogs struggling to stand and breathe. Held told News 18 that her husband went to pick up their dogs and found them both lethargic and struggling to breathe. Yet, the real trouble had yet to begin."He comes in the house and he has this white look on his face and he puts Kennedy down," Held said. "She (Kennedy) is limping so bad with her back legs and she just collapses to the floor."Minutes later, Kennedy died. Now, her owners and thousands of Facebook users are calling on the City of Enterprise to investigate and shut down the business (which due to legality issues, WDHN cannot release its name). However, there's another problem: the kennel's location. The kennel is located just outside of Enterprise city limits — meaning city officials and departments can't do anything. "The only thing that the city is involved in is issuing a business license," said Jason Wright, Enterprise’s communications director. "The tax dollars aren't an issue. They pay an annual business license fee to the city of $37. We issue the business license which is good for a year."Held said she and her husband filed a police report and are waiting to get back necropsy reports."I hope that their facility gets shut down and that this doesn't happen to any other dogs," Held said. Meanwhile, the kennel under fire refuses to comment. Additionally, it's important to understand that while the kennel isn't in city limits, it does fall under Enterprise police jurisdiction. That's why the facility is required to have an Enterprise business license.
