Human Resource Development Corporation (HRDC) is the host sponsor of the 2012 National Foster Grandparent Volunteer Conference. Foster Grandparents, seniors 55 years of age and older serve as volunteers supporting special and /or exceptional needs children in schools, daycare centers and Head Start programs. The National Conference is designed to offer training and workshops to address needs and issues encountered by the seniors performing this invaluable service.The Conference will be held October 26-29, 2012 at the Dothan Convention Center. Seniors attending the conference will be traveling from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana, Kansas, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, Oklahoma and Carolinas to participate in planned activities. All conference attendees will be housed at hotels all over the city of Dothan.Currently, Forty-seven (47) Foster Grandparents from Southeast Alabama (Barbour, Coffee, Dale, Geneva, Henry and Houston) have signed up to attend.
