A SLICE OF AMERICA

There must be something very precious, meaningful, and powerful about America to the peoples of the world. They come from everywhere to live in these United States. They bring their belongings, their children, their parents, and even grandparents. Some of them risk life and limb just to gain a foothold on American soil. But, many of them also bring their beliefs, and their agendas, packed neatly into their suit cases. They come here in the hopes of changing their lives for the better, and for the opportunity to suit themselves. Unfortunately, many of them get what they want at the expense of America, and her people.Americans are a generous lot and we don’t mind sharing. We have pride, and we have love of God and country. We are about family, friends, and peace. But, we will go to war if necessary, to preserve our way of life, our culture, and our future. America is the greatest country on the planet. It must be true because so many people seem to want a taste of that good old American Pie.But, America has largely fallen asleep at the wheel of freedom. She is tired. She is exhausted, and she has no rest. She has a cancer that has me tastasized to her most vital organs -- the American people. We prescribe palliative treatments to assuage her symptoms of waning spirit, flat affect, loss of interest and appetite. We the people are resting on our laurels while our country is sinking to her knees. Our government is not going to arrest the disease. They are helping to create it. They are the primary tumor. Their thinking is corrupt. Their principles are corrupt. Their systems are corrupt. How can a cancer eradicate itself? Our America is slowly slipping away. She has been our strength and our protection. She has always been there for us and we are failing her. People of foreign soils come here for change...but they are changing America. She is in a time of need. Where are her people?It has been said that change only occurs when the pain of remaining the same, becomes greater than the pain of change. I think maybe America just hasn't "gotten there" yet. I guess we're just not in enough pain to stand up and tell our government and the world, "Enough is enough"! The American people have far more power than the government, but we have grown weak. We had the power to put them all in place, and we have the power to put them all out. What are we waiting for? There is a day coming when we will have no power at all, to do anything about any of it. What will we do then? The same thing we're doing now...nothing. We are handing over our American Pie with plate and fork to those who rape our freedoms and rights, and as Americans we are being tossed crumbs from the crust of the nation.I'm all for inviting my neighbors to share the pie I labored to produce, but I think it's damn rude for my neighbor to take all of it for themselves and then make off with the pie dish too! God must be sitting in His Heaven with a tear in His eye thinking, "I gave them the strongest country in the world and they blessed me for it. They print on their money, "In God we Trust" and claim to be, "One nation under God". He must be saying about us, what He said about the Israelites: “…this is a stiff-necked people and they destroy themselves for lack of knowledge". I hope we wake up, take off our rose colored glasses, pull our heads from out of the sea of special interest, and come out of denial about what is happening to us. I hope we do this before it's too late. God bless America, land that I love,Stand beside her and guide herThrough the night with a light from above.
