Brunetta Brannon, age 88, of Dothan, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024 and received her long awaited reward in Heaven of spending eternity with Jesus.
Brunetta’s journey began as the cherished daughter of a close-knit family in Darlington. Her life was rich with experiences that shaped her into the remarkable woman she became. She met and married the love of her life, Hilton Crawford Brannon, and together they built a life filled with laughter, love, and lasting memories. Although Hilton and their beloved son, Fred David Brannon, preceded her in death, the legacy they created continues to thrive through their family.
She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Shirley Waters (Johnny), and a caring mother-in-law to Melanie Brannon. Brunetta’s role as a grandmother and great-grandmother was one she cherished deeply, imparting wisdom and warmth to Joshua Brannon (Vicki), Candace Brannon, Blake Waters, Eric Waters (Heather), Kaden Waters (Jasmine), Jonah Trawick, MaKenzie Brannon, Gatlin Waters, Chloe Waters, Kayla Abercrombie (Cass), Lyla Spence, Emily Espinoza, and Erin Espinoza. The recent addition of her great-great-grandsons, Damien Waters and Nash Abercrombie, brought her immense joy. Brunetta’s siblings, Itheria White, Pansy Palmer, Jeanette Spikes, Veleria Ward, Hettie Palmer and Jewell Bowers, as well as her brothers, Albert Johnson, Brady Johnson, Andy Johnson, Jr., and Randolph Johnson, all shared in the journey of her life before passing on. Their bond remains a cherished memory for all who knew them. Her life was further enriched by the companionship of her canine friend, Rusty, and her special “adopted” daughter, Sue Ann German, along with numerous other relatives and friends who were drawn to her radiant spirit.
A member of Timbers Drive Church, Brunetta’s faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life’s challenges and joys. Her commitment to her church community was unwavering, and her presence there and her ever present smile will be deeply missed.
Brunetta’s love for the earth was evident in her passion for gardening. She found solace and happiness in tending to her vegetable plots and flower beds, nurturing each plant with tender care. Her gardens were a reflection of her inner beauty, bursting with life and color.
Family was the heart of Brunetta’s world. She invested her time and energy into creating moments that would become cherished memories. Her life was a portrait of kindness, selflessness, and generosity, not just for family. She touched the lives of many, leaving a legacy of love that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
