Abner Thomas Watts, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, died Friday, April 27, 2018 at his home. He was 70 years old.


Graveside services for Thomas will be held at 1 PM Monday, April 30, 2018 at Richardson Cemetery in Chatom, Alabama with Pastor Woody Godwin officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 PM until 5 PM Sunday, April, 29, 2018 at Southern Heritage in Dothan, Alabama.


Thomas was born January 15, 1948 in Mobile, Alabama to the late Willard Marshall and Orra Richardson Watts. He was a 1969 graduate of Davidson High School and later joined the United States Army Reserves where he received a National Defense Service Medal and a Sharpshooter badge. Thomas was an iron worker for 35 years with Union Local 798 out of Mobile. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.


Thomas is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Willard Marshall Watts, Jr.


Survivors include his wife, Kaye Watts; six children, Michelle Watts Smith, Michael Watts, Melissa Watts, Jacob Burns (Diana), Jarrod Burns (Mary), and Clint Burns (Leigh); nine grandchildren, Darian Smith, Cassidy Smith, Haley Burns, Shelby Burns, Mason Burns, Jaxon Burns, Colton Ray, Lily Burns, and Scarlett Burns; two sisters, Kaye Watts Collier, and Dianne Watts Parker (Frank).
