ALGIA MACON RICHARDS, JR.

NEWVILLE.…Algia Macon Richards, Jr., a resident of Newville, Alabama, passed away Wednesday morning, December 30, 2020, at a Dothan hospital. He was 74.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 01, 2021, at Wright Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Reverend Larry Sowell officiating.  A private burial followed in the Ashford City Cemetery. All Covid-19 guidelines were in place. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the local food bank in his memory.

Mr. Richards was born in Durham, North Carolina, to the late Algia Macon Richards, Sr.  and the late Margie Carter Richards.

He moved to Newville over 42 years ago with his wife, Jennifer.  Mr. Richards worked most of his life as an electrician. 

Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife of 45 years, Jennifer Dianne Jones Richards;  his daughters, Carolyn Richards Gerney (Mike) of Apollo Beach, Florida, and Sarah Richards Portaro (Jacob) of Crofton, Maryland; his brother, Jerry Richards of Dothan, AL; his grandchildren Noah Portaro and Marc Portaro.
