Alice Mae Stokes age 100, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024 at her home in Samson, Alabama. Funeral services will be held at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 beginning at 2:00 PM with Rev. Lamar Wood and Chasity Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Family Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 PM until service time on Wednesday at Hayes Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stokes leaves behind her daughter, Linda (Foy H.) Lindsey, New Brockton, AL, daughter, Karen (Roy) Tucker, Samson, AL, daughter, Charlene (Paul) Cardwell, Enterprise, AL, daughter, Darlene (Jerry) Barley, New Brockton, AL, daughter, Gloria (Y.Z.) Griffin, Samson, AL, son, Wayne Edward (Melanie) Stokes, Moss Point, MS, and a special nephew, Bob White and his family of Duluth, MN. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory, 22 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 21 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter S. Stokes, by her parents, Lora Alice and Edward Roswell White, children, Debbie Smith, and Billy Stokes, along with grandsons, Kary Stokes, and John "Bo" Thomas, as well as a son-in-law, Jack Thomas, and a great grandson, Brandon Stokes.
