Angelyn Elliott Bowdoin passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 20, 2019. She was 98 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2019 at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Reggie McAllister officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Mrs. Bowdoin was born in Geneva County, AL on September 25, 1921 to the late H.T. and Eunice Sellers Elliott. Mrs. Bowdoin believed in hard work. She retired from Van Heusen after many years of dedicated service. After retirement, she began working once again at the young age of 80 at River Junction Restaurant in Geneva where she worked with her sisters for many more years. She retired from the restaurant at the age of 96. When she wasn’t working at the restaurant you could find her working in her yards and flower beds.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lomax Bowdoin; one daughter, Jan Howell; one sister, Mary Medley; and one brother, Harvey Elliott.

She is survived by one son, Steve Bowdoin of Chancellor; three grandchildren, Jeff Howell (Averi) of Chancellor, Hillary Howell of Birmingham; and Clay Howell (Amanda) of Nashville, TN; two great-grandchildren, Jack and Emmie Howell, both of Chancellor; two sisters, Alice Elliott and Cathryn Elliott, both of Chancellor; son-in-law, Bud Howell (Lori) of Chancellor; and a host of special nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Wiregrass Medical Center, Southern Care Hospice, and Sherry Tyrues for all the devoted love and care that they provided.
