ARITON. . .Ann Williams Mathews, a resident of Ariton, died early Thursday morning, April 21, 2022, in a Dothan hospital. She was 83.
Memorial services will be held at 5:00 P.M. Saturday, April 23, 2022, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Ronny Gillespie officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary in Headland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, AL 36111.
Ann Mathews was born in Echo, Alabama and moved with her family to Midland City as a child. She was the daughter of the late Willie Ford Williams and Hazel Riley Williams. Ann lived in Ariton most of her lifetime. She was formerly employed by Wex-Tex Manufacturing Company in Headland and also White Knight Manufacturing Company in Ozark. Ann was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Williams of Midland City, and a sister, Betty Bundy of Troy.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Penny Poole (Raymond), Cowarts, AL; two sons, Danny Ray Cunningham (Dean), Midland City; and Dennis Ray Mathews (Brenda), Goshen, AL; a brother, Ronnie Williams (Martha), Midland City; ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
