A celebration of life service will be held for Ann at 11 am on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Ann will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park. Before the service, from 10-11 am, family and friends will gather to remember and honor the beautiful life that Ann lived.

Annell W. Walker, known affectionately as Ann to her friends and family, passed away peacefully of natural causes on February 2, 2024, in Dothan, Alabama. Born on January 8, 1938, in Climax, Georgia, Ann's journey through life was marked by kindness, generosity, and a gentle spirit that touched the lives of everyone she met.

Ann's early years were spent in the rural settings of Georgia, where she learned the value of hard work and family. She attended Bell Dixon School, followed by Malvern School in 1946, and finally graduated from Rehobeth School in Houston County in 1955. Her childhood was filled with the experiences of farm life, where she picked cotton and peanuts alongside her family, instilling in her a strong work ethic that would carry her through life.

After her education, Ann began her career working with a loan company soon after graduation. She would later work with a clothing store, where she shared her sense of style and warm customer service with the community. It was during this time that she met and married the love of her life, John Richard Walker, in 1959. Together, they built a life filled with love and mutual respect.

Ann's work history also included time spent at a service station in Graceville and working at the courthouse in Marianna. She dedicated many years to Sony Magnetics, where she was known for her reliability and cheerful disposition, before eventually retiring.

Throughout her life, Ann was an embodiment of selflessness. She was the kind of person who would go out of her way to help others, doing so with a gentle smile that would light up any room. Her interests were simple yet profound; she loved late-night drives with her children, a tradition that brought joy and closeness to their family. Ann's presence was a comforting one, and she was known for being happy, kind, and humble.

Ann's family was the centerpiece of her world. She is survived by her loving sons, Richard “Rick” Walker and Johnny Walker; her cherished grandchild, John Murray (Ashley) Walker and her great grandchildren, Kylien and Skylar Walker; her sister, Hilda Ruth Forshee; her devoted brother, Tommy (Paula) Wilkerson, and her nieces and nephews, David Benefield, Nathan Farnum, David Farnum, Pat Gray, Philip Gray, Elaine Gray Solinga, Tony Danford, Brian Wilkerson, Carol Wilkerson Davis and many great great nieces and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, by her beloved husband of 56 years, John Richard Walker, by her brother and sister-in-law, Carlton and Pearl Wilkerson, by her four sisters, Kathleen and her husband, Dr. Robert Gray, Clara Irene and Pat Walker, Lorene and Ralph Farnum, and Jean and Gene Forshee, and by her niece, Sarah Nell Kissell.

Annell W. Walker's legacy is one of unwavering kindness, a gentle touch, and a selfless heart. Her memory will be treasured, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her. She will be deeply missed, but the love and lessons she imparted will forever remain.
