Annie Laura Wesson, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at a local hospital. She was 68.


Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Jesus First Church in Headland, AL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-3 pm.


Mrs. Wesson was born on February 26, 1951 in Henry County and lived in Headland the early years of her life. She resided in Dothan over 25 years. Mrs. Wesson was a sassy character; she was often blunt and direct. She loved growing flowers; she would even talk to them. Mrs. Wesson enjoyed scrolling Facebook, sending chain messages, and playing Candy Crush and Tetris. She loved her animals, especially her toy poodles, Nuna and Shorty. Mrs. Wesson loved being a homemaker and loved her family fiercely. She was a member of Jesus First Church in Headland.


Mrs. Wesson was preceded in death by her daughter, Carla Walker, her sisters, Mary Morris, Annie Williams, and Gladys Jackson.


She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 30 years, Essie Wesson; her sons, Monte Wesson and Greg Wesson; her daughter, Pam Harris; her grandchildren, Chaniqua Welch, Xavian Welch, Jeanetta Welch, Jimmy Drayton, and Sade Welch; her 5 great-grands; a loving brother-in-law, Early Jackson; her brothers, Robert Earl Welch and William D. Welch; a special cousin, Verdell Brown; a host of nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Betty, Beverlye, and LaKinda.


Serving as active pallbearers will be Larrius Underwood, Christopher Jackson, Lapedris Welch, Johnny Welch, Daquan Welch, and Keshaad Welch.
