Annie Long, a resident of Montgomery, AL died Saturday, June 9, 2012,  in the Baptist Medical Center, East, Montgomery, AL. She was 74.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 12, 2012, in the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Elizabeth McNeill officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 12, 2012, one hour prior to the service.

 

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 8790 Vaughn Road, Montgomery, AL 36117-8848.

 

Miss Long was born and reared in Webb, Alabama; daughter of the late Charlie William Long and Ollie Estelle Hinson Long. She had a distinguished career of thirty years as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the Veterans Hospital, Montgomery, AL. She was a 1955 graduate of Houston County High School and became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1957. Miss Long was a member of the Immanuel Presbyterian Church. Longtime friend of retired Lt. Col Hal and Jan Woods. She loved God, family and her church family.

 

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Cora Lee Chambers, Perry B. Newton, and Eunice Squires and six brothers: Dayton Long, Carl Long, Euell Long, Marvin Long, Walter Long and Curtis Long.

 

Surviving relatives include two sisters, Lucille Whitaker, Dothan; Nell Eubanks, Pansey; and one brother, Hubert Long, Dothan. Four sisters-in-law, Christine Long, Webb; Irene Long, Dothan; Hattie Long Wells and husband, Bobby, Slocomb; and Norma Jean Long, Fadette; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Serving as active pallbearers will be Roger Long, Karry Chambers, Kennon Chambers, Kenneth Brackin, Matt Sullivan and Bill Warren.
