Annie Rebecca Avant King of La Grange, GA and formerly of Geneva, AL passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019.  She was 99. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Mr. Charles Keel, officiating and Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva, directing.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Geneva Senior Center, 105 N. Washington St., Geneva, AL 36340.

 

Mrs. King was born in Coffee County, AL on October 8, 1919, to the late William Early Avant and Emma Iola Wise Avant.  She was a longtime member of Maple Avenue Baptist Church.  Prior to her retirement, Mrs. King worked in the school cafeteria in the Geneva City School System.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer King; three sisters, Lona Bell Wise, Connie Ruth Cosby, and Faye Lewis; and five brothers, Fred Avant, Welcom Avant, Loicy Avant, Elmer Avant, and Lennie Avant.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Keel (Charles) of La Grange, GA; three grandchildren, David Keel (Jennifer) of Fayetteville, GA, Denise Pierce (Brian) of Atlanta, GA, and Dedra Wade (Heath) of Vestavia Hills, AL; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alive Avant (Johnnie Faye) of Samson, and Wayne Avant of Mobile, AL. Mrs. King was always there to care for her family, and she truly enjoyed her nine great-grandchildren.  She was always the most joyful when surrounded by her family.
