ABBEVILLE…Annie Ruth Grissette Richburg, a former resident of Abbeville, passed away early Saturday morning, February 3, 2024, in Enterprise Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was 98.

            Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 10, 2024 in the William Carter Cemetery (7023 County Road 2290, Goshen, AL) with  Darden Kirby officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the William Carter Cemetery, c/o Bernard Richburg, 8091 County Road 2290, Goshen, AL 36035 or First Baptist Church of Abbeville “Missions Fund”, P.O. Box 606, Abbeville, AL 36310.

            Mrs. Richburg was born and reared in the Springhill Community in Pike County, daughter of the late Rufus Lafayette Grissette and Annie Mae Hooten Grissette. She moved to Abbeville in 1949 where she lived most of her lifetime. Mrs. Richburg was a member of the First Baptist Church of Abbeville and the W.M.U. She was a granddaughter of a Confederate Soldier and was a member of the Daughters of the American Colonists and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Richburg was a former member of the homemakers club in Abbeville. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Sanders Richburg, Sr., a grandson, Norman Gene Haskins, Jr., a son-in-law, Reverend Ben McKee, and all of her sisters and brothers.

            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Martha McKee, Enterprise, AL; and Bonnie Haskins (Gene), Anderson, SC; a son, John Sanders Richburg, Jr. (Nancy), Grove Hill, AL; grandchildren, John Richburg (Jocelyn), Jason Richburg (Bonnie), Carl Lee Price, Gary Price (Gina), Kimberly Normand (Nate) and Kathryn Haskins; thirteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
