Mr. Arthur Mitchell Harper, Jr., 98, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Southeast Health following a brief illness.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Harpers Joy Assembly of God Cemetery with Reverend Eddie Littlefield officiating.  The family will receive friends at Glover Funeral Home, Monday, March 18, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Flowers are being accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Harpers Joy Assembly of God, 1509 Harper Joy Road, Dothan, AL 36301.

Mr. Harper was born in Houston County, Alabama to the late Arthur Mitchell Harper, Sr., and Minnie Tolitha (Maddox) Harper.  He was a lifelong resident of Houston County and a graduate of Cottonwood High School.  Following school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served during World War II.  After his service he returned home and spent the rest of his life as a farmer and worked 24 years for Dothan Burlington Mills. Mr. Harper was a member of Harpers Joy Assembly of God Church, where he taught Sunday School for 35 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Wynora (Mercer) Harper; his parents; two sisters, Burnelle Averett and Laura Dickerson; four brothers, Fred, Raymond, Jack, and Don Harper.

He is survived by two sons, Steve Harper (Rhonda) of Dothan, and Mike Harper (Linda) of Dothan; four grandchildren, Jennifer Herring (Ron) of Dothan, Wesley Harper (Allyson) of Enterprise, Stephanie Evans (Jason) of Wauchula, FL, and Steven Harper of Wauchula, FL; five great-grandchildren, Hanna Brooke Dixon (Taylor) of Rehobeth, Carson Herring of Dothan, Caleb Harper, Hayes Harper, and Brandt Harper, all of Enterprise; and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Harper, Steve Harper, Steven Harper, Wesley Harper, Ron Herring, and Caleb Harper.
