Austin Jay Watkins age 21, a former resident of Elba, Alabama passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2019 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Nashville, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, November 2, 2019 beginning at 2:00 PM with Rev. Phillip Adcock officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church cemetery with Hayes Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be at Hayes Funeral Home on Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. The family will be accepting flowers or ask those wishing to make memorials to do so to Hayes Funeral Home, PO Box 387, Elba, Alabama 36323 to help with funeral cost.

Austin was a 2016 graduate of Elba High School, and moved to Tennessee where he received a degree in diesel mechanics from Tennessee Tech. Due to his personality it became apparent he was a natural fit for management. At the time of his death, Austin was currently serving as a District Manager for Little Ceasar’s Pizza in Nashville. He will be remembered by those who knew him best, for his caring, and loving personality and willingness to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Most importantly, he will be remembered for his unwavering faith in his Lord.

Survivors include his Mother - Lucy May Watkins, Elba, AL, Brother - Paul Cornwell, Chicago, IL, Brother - Brantley Greg Watkins, Opp, AL, Sister - Haley May Watkins, Elba, AL, Aunt - Lashelle (Timothy) Burleson, Elba, AL, Aunt - Heather Watkins, Elba, AL, Uncle - John Watkins, Cookville, TN, and Uncle- Michael Railey of Elba, Alabama. Austin also leaves behind his Fiance’- Ashley Odgen and they were anxiously awaiting the birth of their child.
