BARBARA JEAN SMITH HELMS

OZARK, AL… Barbara Jean Smith Helms, a resident of Ozark, Alabama, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023, at her home. She was 79.

          A Memorial Gathering will be held from 9:00 until 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 27, 2023, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

          In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Gentiva Hospice, 2431 West Main Street, Suite 1102, Dothan, Alabama 36301.

          Mrs. Helms was born in Greenville, Alabama to the late James Edward Smith and Louise Tindal Smith. She attended Troy State University. Mrs. Helms was retired from Circle Insurance Agency. She was a member of the Ozark Baptist Church.

          Leaving to cherish her memories is her husband, Roger Dale Helms; her daughters, Shannon Schmidt (Tim), Allison Houston (Chuck), and Natalie Wallace (Tim); her sisters, Ann Thompson (Wayne), Betty Perry, and Martha Vaughn (James); her grandchildren, Grayson Dill, Carson Dill, Emma Houston, Ella Houston, and Sara Payton Schmidt.

          The family wants to extend a special thanks to Mrs. Helms’s caregivers: Sherri Wiggins, Carol Dawkins and Yolanda Williams, and the Gentiva Hospice Staff: Brett Smith, Maddie Faircloth, and Charissa Daniels.
