DOTHAN, AL… Barbara Kay Dowd Sketo, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, passed away Sunday, July 02, 2023, at Signature HealthCare of North Florida in Graceville, Florida. She was 77.

            Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, with Reverend Joey Pettis officiating. The family will receive friends following the services. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

            Mrs. Sketo was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to the late Houston Laymon Dowd and Alice Wynona Willliamson. She lived her entire adult life in the Dothan, Alabama area. She was employed for many years by Dothan Manufacturing Company and Wextex in Ashford before retiring. She was a member of the Kinsey Baptist Church.

            Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, Billy Wayne Sketo; and her brother, Danny Marr.

            Leaving to cherish her memories are her son, Steve Sketo (Sheryl) of Midland City, AL; her sisters, Debbie Hatcher (Wayne) of Ballground, Georgia and Midge Avin of Sumter, SC; her brother, Gary Marr (Cheryl) of Merietta, GA; her sister -in-law, Mary Shelley (Gary) of the Tumbleton Community near Headland, Alabama; her grandson, Spencer Sketo (Kaitlin) of Midland City, Alabama, and her many loving nieces and nephews.
