ABBEVILLE. . .Barbara Turner Cochran, a resident of Abbeville, passed away Friday morning, March 4, 2022, at her home. She was 74.

   Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 7, 2022, in the Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend George Bryan officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary in Abbeville.  

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, AL 36311.

   Mrs. Cochran was born and reared in Henry County where she lived all her lifetime. She was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church. Mrs. Cochran was retired from the Henry County Nursing Home as a Dietary Aide. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Arby “Bud” Turner and Helen Stanley Turner, her step-mother, Catherine Turner, her husband of fifty-five years, Johnny Elbert Cochran, Sr., a sister, Juanita Grantham, and two brothers, Robert Turner and John E. Turner.

   Surviving relatives include two daughters, Laura McAda, Abbeville; and Lisa Ann Wood (Jason), Eufaula; a son, Johnny Elbert Cochran, Jr. (Sharla), Abbeville; five sisters, Willie N. Cordell, Clayton; Martha Kelley (Charles), Linda Bradley, and Gloria Faircloth,all of Abbeville; and Sarah Reakes, Florida; a brother, James Earl Turner, Abbeville; seven grandchildren, Samatha Barnes, Wyatt Evans (Jasmine), Seth Wood (Jerry), Anastasia Wood, Raechel Cochran, Zechariah Cochran and James Cochran; three great-grandchildren, Sadie Barnes, Eli Barnes and Daniel Evans and a great-granddaughter (Evelyn), on the way; numerous nieces and nephews.
