Barney “Don” Harper, 78, of Ashford, Alabama died Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Southeast Health in Dothan, Al.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM, January 23, 2021 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 6200 Highway 431 North, Headland, Alabama 36345. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until the service time at the cemetery. Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, we encourage everyone to make the best decisions to remain safe. If anyone wishes to attend the graveside service, please remember to remain 6 feet apart from those not in your household and wear personal protective equipment. 

Mr. Harper was born September 25, 1942 in Dothan, Alabama son of the late Bonford Buford (B.B.) Harper and Katherine Francis (Peterson) Harper. He retired from Southeastern Freight Lines, Dothan, Al in 2004. Mr. Harper loved to laugh and make people laugh and will be missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Harper is preceded in death by his wife, Nina Jo Peacock Harper; grandson, Michael LaDon Harper and brother, Raymond Harper.

Survivors include his son, Dwayne Harper of Ashford, Alabama; his grandchildren, Kristie Harper of Webb, Al., Alycia Hammond (Casey) of Jefferson, Ga., Will Harper (Kelsey) of Slocomb, Al., and Faith Carroll (Levi) of Crestview, Fl.; and great grandchildren, Brooke and Peyton Hammond of Jefferson, Ga., Aiden, Eli and Liam Carroll of Crestview, Fl., and Easton Harper of Slocomb, Al; siblings, Betty Jean Kennedy, Nathan Harper, Nadine Bedsole and Hershel Harper.
