MANCHESTER, GEORGIA. . .Bartlett Herbert “Bart” Ford, Jr., a resident of Manchester, Georgia, formerly of Dothan and Headland, died early Thursday afternoon, October 14, 2021, at the home of his son in Manchester. He was 88.


   Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M.  Monday, October 18, 2021, in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan, with his son, Reverend Bartlett Herbert Ford, III officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Social distancing and mask guidelines will be observed. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.


   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crosspoint Christian Academy, 5224 Hollonville Road, Williamson, GA 30292.


   Bart Ford was born in Lineville, Alabama and was reared in Sylacauga, Alabama, son of the late Bartlett Herbert Ford, Sr. and Merle Burdeshaw Ford. Mr. Ford was a 1956 graduate of Auburn University School of Pharmacy. While at Auburn, he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and was a founding member of the Phi Delta Chi professional fraternity. Mr. Ford served as a pharmacist at many drugstores in Huntsville, Anniston and Ft. Payne, AL, prior to buying Cash Drugstore in Headland, AL, later Ford Drug Store in 1961. He sold Ford Drug Store in 1979 and became a staff Pharmacist in 1980 for Southeast Alabama Medical Center and retired in 1999. Mr. Ford’s hobbies included collecting pottery, such as American Art Pottery, Folk Pottery, and Alabama Folk Pottery. He was a lifelong member of the American Numinous Association,  the National Rifleman’s Association and the American Pottery Association and was a former member of the Wiregrass Pharmaceutical Association. In 2006, he was honored by the Alabama Pharmaceutical Association for 50 years of service. He lived in Dothan and Headland most of his lifetime before moving to Manchester in January 2021. Mr. Ford attended the Presbyterian churches in Dothan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Fennell Ford.


   Surviving relatives include two daughters, Leigh Parsons (Bill), Franklin, TN; and Jane Patton (John), Arab, AL; a son, Bartlett Herbert “Bo” Ford, III (Gracie), Manchester, GA; a step-son, Eric Floyd (Jane), Cottonwood; a sister, Joanna Hagan, Pell City, AL; grandchildren, Lindsey Burbank, Kendall Miller (Cody), Benjamin Patton (Schanell), Kyle Patton (Jessica), Peyton Ford (Stacy Laughlin), Bartley Ford and Andrew Ford; ten great-grandchildren.
