Bascom C. Metcalf

“B.C.” Metcalf age 95 of Dothan passed away late Thursday, April 14, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Services for “B.C.” will be held Monday, April 18th 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Dothan with Pastor Taylor Rutland officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior. Burial will be in the Cotton Hill Family Cemetery in Dale County where military honors will be presented.
“B.C.” was born March 17, 1927 to Charlie C. Metcalf and Maude Evelyn Smith Metcalf. He was a Wiregrass native having lived in Wicksburg and Dothan areas all of his life. He attended Slocomb High School and upon an early graduation volunteered and served in the Navy during WWII as a Seaman First Class. “B.C.” was the first of his family to attend college where he earned his Bachelors Degree from the University of Alabama and worked as an Industrial Engineer/Mechanical Contractor. He founded Air Conditioning Associates, Inc in the 1950’s.
“B.C.” And his wife Myra joined First Baptist Church in 1957 where he served as a Deacon and attended faithfully until his health declined. “B.C.” enjoyed watching Alabama Football. He enjoyed going out to the family farm in Slocomb and driving his tractor and tending to the pecan orchard as well as fishing. He and Myra were always in attendance of the grandchildren’s ball games. “B.C.” loved the Lord and his family.


“B.C.” is preceded in death by his parents Charlie C. Metcalf and Maude Evelyn Smith Metcalf; daughter in law Jan Metcalf; sisters Elizabeth M. Raines, Barbara M. Harden.


He is survived by his wife of 66 years Myra Cameron Metcalf, sons Cameron A. Metcalf (Beth), Jeffrey M. Metcalf; daughter Dena Metcalf Malugen (Joe); eight grandchildren Anna M. Stinchcum (David), Abby M. Sheff (Sean), Audrey M. Meuleman (Shannon), Connor D. Metcalf, Jeslyn M. Nicodemus (Luke), Jared M. Metcalf, Charles T. Malugen, Jackson H. Malugen; and nine great grandchildren.


Pallbearers will be grandsons Connor A. Metcalf, Jared M. Metcalf, Charles T. Malugen, Jackson H. Malugen and Clifton Smith.


The family will receive flowers or contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Dothan.
