Mrs. Bennie Fears Smith, age 80, God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so He put his arms around you, and whispered, “Come with Me” on Thursday, October 27, 2022.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 31, 2022 at Cloverdale Baptist Church with the Rev. Alan Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 until 3:30 on Sunday. Flowers are being accepted.

Mrs. Smith was born September 4, 1942 in Cottonwood, Alabama to O. G. and Mary Dee Pelham Fears. She lived the early years of her life in Cottonwood and was a 1960 graduate of Cottonwood High School. Following graduation, she met and married her husband Ivan. She was employed at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in the mailroom for several years and later as an insurance Clerk. She also worked with the child nutrition program at Dothan City Schools. Mrs. Smith loved to be outside working in her flower gardens. She loved her grandchildren and being at all of their events. She was a member of Cloverdale Baptist Church for over 50 years.

Mrs. Smith is predeceased by her parents, four sisters, Willie Bell Guy, Blonell Burnham, Johnell Hawkins and Bobbie Lyle.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Ivan Smith; three children, Nicky Smith (Sabrena), Britt Smith (Kimberly Paige) and Kimm Smith Gaster (Keith); ten grandchildren, Amanda Leach (Adam), Logan Gaster (Hannah), Elizabeth Smith, Emma Gaster, Eli Smith, Dillon Gaster, Jaci Smith, Ellie Smith, Kimber Hertensen and Harlan Hertensen; one great-grandchild, Adeline Leach; a sister, Votie Hodges; several nieces and nephews.

Serving active pallbearers will be: Phil Smith, Derek Smith, Mark Johnson, Donnie Meadows, John Kuliskey and Brian Meneses.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Billy Max, Edward McCoy, Lamond Guy, Rich Mylod, Matt Hughes, Michael Driskell and Jordan Peacock.
