Benny Earl Whitt, of Enterprise, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Southeast Health.  He was 70.


 


Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Sorrells Funeral Home in Enterprise.  The family will receive friends Wednesday beginning at 9:00 and continuing until service time.  Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2019 in Consolation Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing.


 


The family will be accepting flowers, but donations may also be made to the local DAV Chapter of your choice or the Henry Jackson Foundation PTSD.  The family would also like for you to send someone a card in honor of Mr. Whitt, as he enjoyed sending cards just because to his loved ones.


 


Benny was born September 23, 1948, in Brundidge, Alabama.  He served as a Marine Sniper during the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart Recipient.  Upon his return from Vietnam, he met and married Tonda Whitt and had two daughters whom he loved very much, Crystal (Christian) and Hanna Whitt.  Benny was fortunate enough to marry Nancy Johnson and gained three children: Lori, Darrell and Charlotte; grandchildren: Halley, Darren, Austin, Briane, Damon, Angel, and Stephen; and numerous great – grandchildren.  He worked as a truck driver for Hudson Industries for 32 years.


 


He was preceded in death by both parents and one brother, William (Bud) Whitt.


 


Survivors include: daughters, Crystal Christian and Hanna Whitt both of Jack, Charlotte Wheeler and Lori Harrison of Enterprise; son, Darrell Cawley (Tamie) of Enterprise; grandchildren; Darrell, Damon, Briane, Angel, and Halley; and numerous great-grandchildren. 


 


Mr. Whitt was a wonderful father, always ready with a laugh or a hug when needed.  He took time to pick out the perfect card for someone’s special occasion or for no reason at all.  He always knew when you needed a card or just a note to say “I love you”.
