Mrs. Bernice Peninnah Cox was born on April 4, 1926, to Leonhard and Helena Richert in Bakersfield, California.  She entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday October 6, 2023, at the age of 97.  On April 6, 1968, she married Jack Waldron Cox and became “Mom” to his children, Ken and Lori and moved to Vallejo, California.  They were married for 37 good years until Jack passed away in 2005.  She attended Vallejo Bible Church and served in various capacities through the years.  In September 2012, Bernice moved to Tullahoma, Tennessee to live close to her daughter then in November 2021 moved to Slocomb, Alabama with her daughter and son-in-law. 

Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am, on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Logos Baptist Church in Dothan, Alabama with Pastor David Anderson officiating.   The family will be receiving friends prior to services from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Rosella and Elresa, brother Orlando and grandsons, Jason and Kevin.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth Cox (Kathy) Stagecoach, Nevada, daughter Lorraine Foster (Russell) Slocomb, Alabama and a brother, Marvin Richert (Marilyn) Bakersfield, California; six grandchildren, 11great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
