PLEASANT GROVE, ALABAMA… Mrs. Betty Battles Stanford, a resident of the Pleasant Grove Community, near Birmingham, died early Tuesday morning, June 27, 2023, at her home. She was 85.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 30, 2023, at Cottage Hill Baptist Church in Pleasant Grove. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Methodist Church Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Friday at the church.

            Mrs. Stanford, daughter of the late Miker C. Battles and Annie Mae Oglesby, was a native of Vance, Alabama. She enjoyed planting flowers and shopping with her family. In addition, she enjoyed watching and ordering from QVC. She was preceded in death by a son, Howard Lamar Stanford; brothers, Richard W. Battles, J.P. Battles, L.C. Battles; sisters, Elma Fuhr and Thelma Hughes.

            Surviving relatives include her husband, Jerry L. Stanford; a daughter, Tammy S. English (Larry), two sons, Scott Stanford and Carl Stanford, all of Pleasant Grove; her sister, Velma J. Mangham; grandchildren, Karla Porter (Justin), Justin L. English (Sabrina), Liam Stanford, Ava Stanford, Caleb Stanford, and Bayleigh Stanford; great-grandchildren, Layla English, Betty English, Austin Richards, and William Osborn; nieces and nephews.
