Betty Hicks, a resident of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at a local hospital. She was 90.


Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 11 am in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kyle Gatlin officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-11 am on Friday. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.


Mrs. Hicks was born June 13, 1928 in Dale County and lived the early part of her life in Echo and graduated from Midland City High School. She attended Riley Business College and was later employed with Harry Crine as a bookkeeper in the Auto Parts Store and later with Western Auto for several years. She was active with the Cultural Arts Center where she loved to paint and was also a member of Selma Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Hicks and 2 grandchildren.


Survivors include her children, Kent (Donna) Skinner, Preston (Julia) Skinner, and Vicki (Terry) Harris; 7 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; several nieces and a nephew.
