BETTY  JO  GOLDEN



HEADLAND. . .Betty Jo Danford Golden, a resident of Athens, Alabama, formerly of Headland, died Sunday afternoon, August 12, 2018, in the Huntsville Hospital. She was 82.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 15, 2018, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Scott Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Concord Baptist Church, c/o Janara Parrish, 1350 County Road 14, Newville, AL 36353.


            Betty Jo Golden was a native of Midland City, daughter of the late Allen Andrew Danford, Sr. and Myrle Dick Danford. She lived in the Concord community of Henry County and Headland before moving to Athens in 2016. Betty Jo was an active member of the Concord Baptist Church where she formerly taught Sunday School for many years. She also participated in the Bill Glass “Behind the Wall” Ministries. She was retired from the Headland National Bank as Assistant Head Teller. In earlier years, she was employed by the Wiregrass Bank & Trust Company in Headland. Betty Jo was preceded in death by her former husband, James Golden, two sisters, Fauviette Thompson and Hazel Reagan and two brothers, C. L. Danford and Randall Danford.


            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Pamela Golden Morgan (Donald), Athens, AL; two grandchildren, Kristie Murphree (Eddie) and Karman Morgan; three great-grandchildren, Morgan Murphree, James Murphree and Hudson Downs; three sisters, Rene Herring, Brantley, AL; Faye Bruner and Ouida Schulman (Richard), all of Dothan; a brother, Allen A. Danford (Erma), Panama City, FL


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Glenn Deal, John Deal, Joey Deal, Buford Kimbrell, Troy Bruner and Connie Parrish.
