Betty Kell Culbertson, formerly from Dothan, has passed away to be with her Lord and Savior on, Wednesday, July 12, 2017.


 


Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 17, 2017 at 3PM from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Darryl Head and Bro. Tyler Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 17, 2017 from 1:30 to 3:00 PM.


 


Betty was born and grew up in Oglethorpe County, Georgia in 1933. She was baptized on January 22, 1949.  She married Duane Culbertson in March of 1958. She lived the majority of life in Dothan, Alabama which she considered her home. She has resided in Pelham, Alabama the past eleven years.


 


Betty was a Mom, Grandma, and Kindergarten/Child Care teacher.  She also served proudly in the United States Marine Corp.  She was a member and active volunteer at the First Christian Church of Dothan, Alabama. She loved her loyal companion, Petey the cat, who lived with her for eight years. She loved to read, garden, and play games.


 


She is survived by her two daughters: Dorothy (Dottie) Thorsen (Tim) Bismarck, North Dakota, and Sandra Clark (Rusty) Alabaster, Alabama, three grandchildren Art Thorsen (Mara) Fargo, North Dakota, Duane Thorsen Gdansk, Poland, and Tyler Clark (Ginnie) Houston, Texas, and one great-granddaughter, Eleanor Clark.


 


Also, surviving Betty is her sister Thelma Head, her brothers Michael Kell (Nancy) and John Kell, and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces/nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Duane, her parents, her Aunt “Leah”, four sisters, and five brother-in-law’s.
