ABBEVILLE. . .Betty Lou VanBebber Bailey, a resident of Abbeville, died late Wednesday night, June 7, 2023, in a Dothan hospital. She was 84.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 10, 2023, in the Judson Baptist Church with Reverend Brandon Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Judson Baptist Church, P.O. Box 56, Abbeville, AL 36310.

            Mrs. Bailey was born in Arkansas and was raised in Kansas City, Kansas by Oliver and Vinny Porter. She moved to the Screamer community of Henry County in 1958 where she was a member of the Judson Baptist Church. Mrs. Bailey was retired from WestPoint Stevens as a sewing machine operator. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Thomas Bailey, and a sister, Connie Macias.

            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Beth Hatcher (Kent), and Cindy Bailey, a son, Bobby Bailey (Renee), all of Abbeville; several half-sisters and step-sisters and a half-brother; grandchildren, Jody Bailey (Laney), Josh Bailey (Valerie), Jonathan Laney, Jacob Laney, Brian Hatcher (Hannah), Jessica Crozier (Zack), and T. J. East (Nicole); sixteen great-grandchildren including Gabrielle Bailey who Loyd Thomas and Betty raised.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be T. J. East, Russell Bailey, Kenny Bailey, Brian Hatcher, Matt Hatcher and Jackie Smith.
