Billy Eugene Burkett of Darlington, FL passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was 86 years old.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Allen Marsh officiating. Burial will follow in the Limestone Community Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Billy was born in the Ino Community in Alabama on September 28, 1935 to the late Bertie and Alice Spann Burkett.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin sister at birth; one son, Ray Burkett; sisters, Hilda Dillard, Thelma Alford, Sybil Webster, Levail Spires, and Vivian Dukes; brothers, Morris, Earl, Carl, H.D, I.D, and Jimmy D. Burkett.

He is survived by his wife 63 years, Carol Sue Welch Burkett of Darlington, FL; six children, Rita Marsh (Larry) of Samson, AL, Ricky Burkett (Marie) of Darlington, FL, Elisha Barksdale (Joyce) of New Philadelphia, OH, Alexi Goddin (Cody) of Ponce de Leon, FL, Kyarra Scott (Jeffery) of Samson, AL, and Chelsea Burkett (Willie Toles); 11 grandchildren, Erica Adams (Jason), Allen Marsh (Andrea), Frank Araneo (Jodi), Brittaney Schofield (Jeremy), Nicki Burkett, Kaeydence Nelson, Bryan, Anessa, Amaiyah Scott, Liam Goddin, and Triston Martin (Breanna); several great grandchildren; and one brother, Duncan Burkett (Sheila) of Samson, AL.

Serving as pallbeares will be Jimmy Harrison, Toby Burkett, Eddie Burkett, Robbie Burkett, Frank Araneo, Trenton Alford, and Clay Webster.
