Billy Charles (Paw Paw) Gainey, of Enterprise, passed away Wednesday evening, May 12, 2021 at Flowers Hospital.  He was 84. 


A private graveside ceremony with military honors will be at Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise with Reverend Leon Adams officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Enterprise directing.  


Billy was born June 15, 1936 in Mississippi to the late Wiley and Bethel Buckaloo Gainey. In addition to his parents, his brother, David Gainey preceded him in death.


Being an avid outdoorsman, Billy loved fishing and hunting.  He was a kind, compassionate man and cared deeply for his family and friends. 


Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Janice Gainey; daughter, Alicia Kay Happoldt (Robert) of New Brockton; brother, Jerry Gainey of Mississippi; sisters, Cloyce Ann Hoover (Herbert) of Nebraska, Helen Jenkins, and Rosemary Gainey, both of Mississippi; grandchildren, Candice Holley (Brad), Carli Rovito (Frank); great-grandchildren, Molli Kay Hutto, Lia Jane Hutto, Charleigh Nicole Lane Holley, and Rylin Nova Rovito. 


Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Shriners International at 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607.
