BLONDELL  EDMONDSON  SHELLEY


 


ABBEVILLE. . . . Blondell Edmondson Shelley, a resident of Abbeville, died early Thursday morning, July 19, 2012, in a Dothan hospital, surrounded by her family and friends. She was 71.


 


            Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 21, 2012 in the Holman Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Robert Parnell officiating. Graveside services will follow in the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, Tumbleton community, with Reverend George Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at the mortuary in Abbeville.


 


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Sardis Baptist Church “Window Fund”, c/o Olivia Bush, 4840 County Road 71, Shorterville, Alabama 36373.


 


            Blondell Shelley was born in Henry County, daughter of the late Malcolm K. Edmondson and Louise Barnes Edmondson. She lived in the Tolbert community of Henry County most of her adult lifetime before moving to Abbeville in 2006.  Blondell was a member of the Tolbert Baptist Church. She was retired from WestPoint Stevens in Abbeville after forty-two years employment. After her retirement, she was employed by Dogwood Manor Assisted Living. Blondell was preceded in death by her husband, James Hubert Shelley, a son, James Keith Shelley, two daughters, Sylvia Jean Shelley and Elizabeth Ann Shelley and a brother, Tony Edmondson.


 


            Surviving relatives include a daughter Michelle Shelley Price and husband, Jon, Abbeville; three grandchildren, Caleb Price, Katie Price and Karlee Price; three sisters, Connie Hale and husband, Harold, Niles, Ohio; Martha Sue Redding and husband, Allen, Hayesville, North Carolina; Judy Blankenship, Dothan; two brothers, Billy Edmondson and wife, Katie, Georgetown, Georgia and Ira Edmondson and wife, Carol, Ariton, Alabama.


 


            Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Blankenship, Bill Edmondson, Bruce Kilgore, Bruce Taylor, Matt Hatcher and Cary Price.
