HEADLAND, AL… Bobbie Joe Smith, a resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 19, 2023, at his home. He was 58.


A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Reverend Joey Pettis officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. prior to the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.


Mr. Smith was born in Henry County, Alabama to the late Joseph Dean Smith and Peggy Ann Burkett Smith. He lived his entire life in the Headland, Alabama area. He worked as a farmer with Mr. Sam Frank White, and he also worked at Rushing Enterprises before becoming medically disabled. He was an avid Auburn fan.


Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Marty Smith; his sister, Bertie D. Smith; and his nephew, Joseph Oneal Hutto.


Leaving to cherish his memories are his sisters, Myrtle Lester, Wanda G. Stewart (Megan Lee), Lisa Bowman, and Diane Smith Shiver (Ricky); his brothers, James Robert Smith (Linda), Joseph A. Smith; his three grandchildren; his daughter; his two sons; a special friend, Bobby Durry “Big Bobby”; and his several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
