ABBEVILLE. . .Bobby Ray Sauls, Sr., a resident of Abbeville, died early Tuesday evening, December 12, 2023, at his home. He was 82.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 15, 2023, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Mickey Skinner officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in the Hickory Grove Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Friday at the mortuary in Abbeville.

            Bobby Sauls was born in Ozark and was raised in Henry County, son of the late Mercer Young Sauls and Thelma Louise Skinner Sauls. At an early age, he enlisted in the U. S. Army and served with the 82^nd Airbone Division during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Bobby was of the Baptist Faith. He lived in the Screamer community for over forty years. Bobby was retired as the Maintenance Supervisor from the Henry County School System. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Arnold “Boogie” Sauls, sisters, Audie Cummings and Myrtle Buxton, and brothers, William Sauls, James Robert Sauls, Jerry Sauls and David Sauls.

            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Stephanie Sauls Kelley (Stan), Abbeville; a son, Bobby Ray Sauls, Jr. (Deborah), Eufaula; a brother, Shelby Skinner (Rhydona), Abbeville; grandchildren, Travis Kelley (Logan), and Candace Hardy (Denny); a great-grandchild, Jackson Riley; numerous nieces and nephews.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Bobby Sauls, Jr., Travis Kelley, Robert Garrett, Randy Pittman, Daren Arnold and Randy Sauls.
