 Bobby Ray Shirley Jr. of Hartford passed away on Friday, June 1, 2012,  at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center after a  brief illness.   He was 53. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM. on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Slocomb with Rev. Jessie Hobbs officiating.  Burial will follow in Hartford City cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.  

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. At all other times they will be at the family residence on Leon Street in Hartford.  

Bobby Ray was born on October 4, 1958 in Florida to the late Bobby Ray Shirley Sr. and Mrs. Louzette V. Mitchem. After moving to Hartford a number of years ago, he became the owner of Bear Metals in Hartford. He loved woodworking, playing and listening to music and being with his friends.  

Survivors include his mother: Louzette Mitchem (Leon), Hartford, brother: John Shirley (Martha), Hartford, sisters: Sandra Holland (Aaron), Vance, AL, Ronda Barnes (Greg), Hartford, nephew: Chris Shirley (Cindy), Enterprise, other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins as well as his canine companion and child, Jenks.
