HEADLAND. . .Brenda Sue Burkett Mills, a resident of Headland, died Wednesday morning, November 8, 2023, in a Dothan hospital. She was 73.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 12, 2023, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Bishop Ricky Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Midland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary in Headland. At other times, the family will be at the home of a daughter, Chris Folds, 1677 County Road 63, Midland City.

            Mrs. Mills was a lifelong resident of Headland, daughter of the late Robert Richmond Burkett and Lula Ray Tice Burkett. She was a member of the Sanctuary of Praise in Midland City. Mrs. Mills was formerly employed by Hardee’s in Headland for eighteen years. She was preceded in death by two children, Kathy Clements and Jackie Sue Ward, seven sisters, Martha Osborne, Peggy Smith, Pauline Enfinger, Judy Burkett, Jeanelle Burkett, Shirley Burkett and Patricia Farness and two brothers, Carlton Earl Burkett and Darrell Burkett.

            Surviving relatives include her husband, James Floyd Mills; four daughters, Lenitha Chandler, Abbeville; Chris Folds (Earl), Midland City; Janie Sue Ward (Thomas), Ozark; and Judy George, Headland; a sister, Linda McLean, Headland; a brother, Charles Burkett (Janie), Headland; grandchildren, Ronnie Chandler, Christie Kelly, Kathy Ann Chandler, Angel Thomas (Ken), Earl Folds (Ashley), Roxy Lacy (Tim), Teddy Folds (Katie), Makayla Mills, Tyler Mills and Andrew Ward; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
