DOTHAN. . .Bun Floyd Strickland, a resident of Dothan, formerly of Abbeville, died early Wednesday morning, November 8, 2023, in a Dothan hospital. He was 85.

            Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 10, 2023, in the Old Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Joey Hudspeth officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, P.O. Box 1170, Dothan, Alabama 36302.
            Mr. Strickland was born and reared in Henry County, son of the late James Alexander Strickland and Thelma Starling Strickland. He lived in the Wills Crossroads community all his life before moving to Dothan twelve years ago. Mr. Strickland was a member of Old Zion Baptist Church where he formerly served as a Deacon. He was retired from WestPoint Stevens in Abbeville. Mr. Strickland enjoyed travelling in his motor home and camper. Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lucy Johnson Strickland and an infant sister.

            Surviving relatives include his companion, Nellie Kirkpatrick, Dothan; a son, Anthony Strickland (Tonya), Rome, Georgia; a brother, James Strickland, Abbeville; several nieces and nephews including, Mike Strickland and his wife, Pat, and Sheila Strickland.
