Carolyn Marshall Bass, a resident of Dothan, died Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Flowers Hospital following a brief illness. She was 75.

Mrs. Bass was born August 8, 1948 in Dothan to Rufus and Mollie Ruth Hagler Marshall and lived the early years of her life in Napier Field. She was a 1966 graduate of Dale County High and later received her BS and MS Degrees at Troy State University.

She was a counselor at Northview High from 1980-2000 and later was employed as a counselor with Troy University for six years. Following retirement, she worked with her husband at Donald W. Bass P.C. C.P.A for twenty years. Mrs. Bass was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. She was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church for 44 years.  

She is predeceased by her father, Rufus Marshall, step-father, E.P. Cain and a step-brother, Tom Cain.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Donald W. Bass of Dothan; a son, Donald Wade Bass, II of Lynn Haven, FL; a daughter, Marsha Schmid of Fayetteville, GA; two grandchildren, Dalton Wade Bass of Gainesville, FL and Troy David Schmid of Fayetteville, GA; her mother, Mollie Ruth Marshall Cain of Dothan; a brother, Bill Marshall (Nina) of Dothan; a sister, Martha Leger (Bill) of Midland City; a step-sister, Betty Prentice of Graceville, FL; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A private graveside service was held. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to one’s favorite charity.
