A celebration of her life will be held at 11 am on Monday, May 23, 2022 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kyle Gatlin officiating. She will be laid to rest with her husband Bill at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant UMC, Focus 55 Group, or The Wiregrass Humane Society.

Carolyn R. Benton passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022 after an extended illness. She was 86 years old.


A celebration of her life will be held at 11 am on Monday, May 23, 2022 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kyle Gatlin officiating. She will be laid to rest with her husband Bill at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10-11 am. Carolyn R. Benton was born on December 3, 1935 in Lake City, Florida. She was raised in southern California and attended Culter Academy in Los Angeles, CA. Carolyn joined Civil Service and while serving in Korea met her husband, Bill. They were married in 1964 and traveled the world while he was in the US Army. They were married for over 49 years. Carolyn was a faithful member of Covenant United Methodist Church and devoted a lot of time to the Focus 55 Group and the Faithful Fingers Knitting Group and United Methodist Women’s Circles.


Carolyn is survived by her step son, William B. Benton, and his wife, Pauline; her two grandchildren, Emily Sonbuckner and Stacey Benton; her 4 great grandchildren, Aurora, Enoch, Dietrich, and John Tyler; and her special friends, Tim and Sherry Koogler and family.
