ABBEVILLE. . .Carolyn Summerall Haywood, a resident of Abbeville, died Wednesday morning, July 20, 2022, in a Dothan hospital. She was 79.

            Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 22, 2022, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Harold Pettis and Reverend Timothy Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:00 A.M. Friday at the mortuary in Abbeville.

            Mrs. Haywood was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and was raised in McMinnville, Tennessee. She lived in Vero Beach, Florida and Georgetown, Georgia before moving to Henry County, Alabama in 2005. Mrs. Haywood retired from Haywood’s Machine Shop in Georgetown, Georgia as secretary. In earlier years, she was self-employed in residential and commercial cleaning and had also been employed by Piper Aircraft in Vero Beach, Florida. Mrs Haywood was preceded in death by her husband, Pat Haywood, a sister, Linda Summerall and a brother, Robert Summerall.

            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Linda Deese (Randy), and Rose Dixon (Timothy), all of Dothan; three sons, Pete Tucker (Connie), Moultrie, GA; Ricky Sandusky (Tammy), Marianna, FL; and Johnny Sandusky (Lori), Butler, PA; her step-children, Connie H. Lawley (Alvin), David Haywood (Donna), and Eddie Haywood; a sister, Agnes Purdy, Evansville, Indiana; and a brother, Joe Summerall (Kaye), Vero Beach, FL; fifteen grandchildren, several great and great-great-grandchldren.
