CAROLYN V. SPANN


TUMBLETON .… Carolyn V. Spann, a resident of the Tumbleton Community of Henry County, passed away Friday evening, March 13, 2020, at a Dothan hospital. She was 85.


            Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 16, 2020 at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Reverend Joey Pettis officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Kinsey, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Monday before the service.  Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.


            Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Headland Fire & Rescue, 456 East Main Street Headland, Alabama 36345.


            Mrs. Spann was born in Houston County to the late Verna C. Granberry & Ora Dell Howard Granberry where she lived most of her childhood. She moved to the Tumbleton Community over sixty-one years ago. She was a member of the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church in Tumbleton. Ms. Carolyn was a 1952 graduate of Rehobeth High School. She was retired from working for over twenty years as a pharmacy tech at Headland Pharmacy.


            Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Roy Spann; her daughter, Sandra Spann Whitehead; her son-in-law, Willie Peach; her sister, Irell Granberry; and her brothers; Howard Granberry, Elvis Granberry, and Nelson Granberry.


            Leaving to cherish her memories are her daughters, Mary Ann Spann, Brenda Peach, both of the Tumbleton Community, Pam Williams (Larry) of Dothan, Alabama; a brother, Tommy Granberry of Echo, Alabama; her grandchildren, Traci Truitt, Patrick Whitehead, Nicholas Williams, Stacie Williams, and Wendi Caraway (Keith); her great-grandchildren, Trey Truitt, Talia Truitt, Caleb Whitehead, Paisley Whitehead, Jordan Bond, Emily Bond, and Jack Caraway.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Nicholas Williams, Trey Truitt, Greg Granberry, Gage Herring, Frank McClenny, and Taiwan Truitt.
