Celeste Carmichael Hart, a lifetime resident of Dothan, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022 at Flowers Hospital. She was 95.


Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at First United Methodist Church of Dothan with Rev. Lynn Smilie Nesbit and Dr. David R. Saliba officiating. Burial will follow in Dothan City Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends in the church parlor from 1:00 until 1:45 on Tuesday prior to service time. Flowers are being accepted.


Mrs. Hart was born December 27, 1926 in Dothan to Archie and Marion Carmichael. She was a 1945 graduate of Dothan High School and later attended the University of Alabama. On June 24, 1947, she married Kirby Lamar Hart and they established their home on 208 Hazelwood Drive where she lived for 72 years. Mrs. Hart was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church.


Mrs. Hart is predeceased by her parents, her stepmother, Elizabeth Carmichael, her husband, Kirby Lamar Hart, a son, Michael Hart, a brother, Archie Carmichael III and a daughter-in-law, Susan Hart.


She is survived by four children, Dr. Kirby Lamar Hart, Jr. of Dothan, William Singletary Hart (Bonny) of Dothan, Gary Owens Hart (Rhonda) of Dothan and Celeste Hart Martin (Marty) of Chancellor; a sister, Nancy Carmichael Bell (John) of Atlanta, Georgia; a step-sister, Martha Foy of Dothan; eight grandchildren, Kirby Hart (Allison) of Dothan, Daniel Hart (Elizabeth) of Greenville, SC, Katie DeJong (Ike) of Dothan, Davis Hart (Daphne) of Dothan, Hillary Hart Dunham (Jason) of Huntsville, Hayden Hart Morris (Chris) of Dothan, John Eiland (Nina) of Dothan and Candace Goodwin (Jim) of Atlanta, Georgia; twenty-three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.


The family would like to extend their thanks to Brandy and Karen Detter for the special care given to their loved one.


Pallbearers will be Kirby Hart, Daniel Hart,  John Eiland,  Davis Hart, Ike DeJong, and Jason Dunham.
