Charlene Collom Szollosi, 76, of Ridge Farm, IL passed peacefully in her sleep the morning of December 3rd, 2021 at her home in Ozark, AL. Her family will have a private memorial service on December 19th, 2021.


Charlene was born July 21st, 1945 to Vernard Collom Sr. and Vivian Voyles Collom. She grew up in Ridge Farm with her two brothers and two sisters and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.


She married William Bush of Tilton, IL in 1965. Together they raised two sons, Kevin and Nathan Bush. Charlene continued raising her two sons with the support of her family and friends until she met Michael Szollosi of Danville, IL in 1983. She and Michael and her sons relocated to Palmetto, FL the summer of 1983. She graduated as an LPN from Nursing school in 1986 and spent her remaining working years as a nurse until her retirement. She spent her retirement years enjoying her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Ozark, AL.


She is preceded in death by her father, mother, younger brother, Gregory Collom, all of Ridge Farm, IL and her brother-in-law, Duane “Fid” Fidler of Chrisman, IL. She is also preceded by her two husbands, William Bush and Michael Szollosi.




She is survived by her sons, Kevin (Michelle) Bush, Nathan (Tammy) Bush, her grandchildren, Andrea (Joey) Tice, Alexis (William) Shafer, Jesse Stephens, Kaitlyn (Brandyn) Melton, Danielle Bush, Chelsea (Josh) Sapp, Amelia Devine and her great-grandchildren Jayden and Jenna Tice and William and Emily Shafer.


She is also survived by her sisters, Kay Collom Fidler of Chrisman, IL, Carol Collom Mohr of Urbana, IL, her brother Vernard “Biff” Collom. of Urbana, IL and three nieces, Laura “Buffy“ (Bob Fowler) Fidler and their niece Ashley (Johnnyray) Kennedy and daughter Kylie, of Chrisman, IL, Dana Mohr of St. Joseph, IL, and Krisitn (James) Maley and daughter Ellie Grace of Urbana, IL.
