ABBEVILLE. . .Charles Benjamin Faulk, a resident of Abbeville, died early Wednesday afternoon, April 12, 2023, at his home. He was 89.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 14, 2023, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Teddy Ward officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in Abbeville Memorial Cemetery-East. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Mr. Faulk was born in Elamville in Barbour County, son of the late Charlie E. Faulk and Bessie Teal Faulk. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and later retired from the Army National Guard with rank of Sergeant First Class. Mr. Faulk was retired from Keahey Line Clearing as a Foreman. In earlier years, he was self-employed as the owner and operator of Faulk’s Auto Repair in Abbeville and had also been employed by Money Ford. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and the V.F.W. Post No. 5850 in Eufaula. Mr. Faulk was preceded in death by two sisters, Sue Harding and Beatrice Warr and three brothers, Ralph Faulk, Bryant Faulk and Gene Faulk.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Shirley Sutton Pittman Faulk, four daughters, Janet Faulk Gonzales (Rudy), Beaumont, TX; Jennie Kissell, Ozark; Lisa Pittman Smith, Clayton; and Cheryl Woods (Stevens), Midland, GA: four sons, Curtis Faulk (Lynne), Birmingham, AL; Craig Faulk (Roxanna), LaGrange, GA; Lavon Pittman, Eufaula; and Randy Pittman (Miriam), Eufaula; a sister, Mary Ann Smith, Ozark; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
