Charles Dykes Moody of Samson, AL passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, at his home. He was 78 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva, AL with Rev. Donnie Earles and Buddy Moody officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Dykes was born in Geneva County, AL on April 13, 1945, to the late Grady Lee and Tobitha Lawson Moody. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing. Dykes enjoyed watching all types of sports, but he was very passionate about the Alabama Crimson Tide. He liked reading his Bible and made sure to read it daily. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Shannon Heath; one granddaughter, Kenzly Moody; one sister, Jeannete Moody; two brothers, Jimmy and Mickey Moody.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Betty Sue Moody of Samson, AL;  seven children, Tina Garza (Gerardo) of Enterprise, AL, Johnny Heath, Amy Carroll (Michael), Ginger Hernandez, Jennifer Morales, Joseph Moody (Jennifer) all of Samson, AL, and Tabitha Pryor (James) of Geneva, AL; 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; three siblings, Mike “Buddy” Moody (Evelyn) of Hacoda, AL, Marilyn Mock (Archie) and June Moody all of Samson, AL; several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ethan Wilkerson, Cliff Baxley, Colton Shelton, Isaac Pryor, Johnny Heath, Kenneth Sansom, Michael Heath, and Tyler Hobbs.
