Charles R. Thompson, age 81, of Enterprise, AL passed away Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Flowers Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise with Rev. Glenn Crumpler officiating and Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory from 10:00 A.M. until service time.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in the name of Charlie Thompson to: ESCC Foundation, PO Box 1300 Enterprise, AL 36331 or Enterprise Family YMCA, PO Box 310700 Enterprise, AL 36331.

Charlie founded Enterprise Wholesale, Inc. in 1975.  He operated this business for 47 years until his retirement in 2022.  In his spare time, he was an avid golfer, and he enjoyed fishing.  He helped organize the Enterprise Junior Open at Enterprise County Club to expand the love of golf.  He was a football referee in his early years, and he loved baseball and all competitive sports. He adored his family and grandkids who knew him as “Partner”.

He is preceded in death by his parents R.L. (Judge) & Jonnie Thompson, brother, Hardee Thompson, and a sister, Marie Rials.

Survivors include his wife Martha Thompson, Enterprise, AL; daughter, Allison Thompson Baxter (Kevin), Enterprise, AL; son, Trent Thompson, Enterprise, AL; four grandchildren, Elliott Baxter, IsaBelle Thompson, Mary Charles Thompson and Harrison Thompson; two sisters, Arie Wise (Ronnie), Clanton, AL; Barbara Morris, Phenix City, AL.
