CHARLES  WAYNE  STINSON


 


ABBEVILLE. . .Charles W. (Charlie) Stinson, a resident of Abbeville, died early Wednesday afternoon, May 30, 2012, in a Dothan hospital.  He was 65.



            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Saturday, June 2, 2012, in the First Baptist Church of Abbeville with Reverend Michael Whitt, Reverend Ray S. Reiley and Reverend Thomas D. Gamble officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery-East with Reverend Teddy Ward officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the First Baptist Church Family Life Building.



            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church “Children’s Playground Fund” or “Kitchen Fund”, P.O. Box 606, Abbeville, AL. 36310.



            Charlie Stinson was a lifelong resident of Henry County and Abbeville, son of the late Harry Elijah Stinson and Lillie Estelle Price Stinson. He was a 1965 graduate of Abbeville High School. Charlie was employed by WestPoint Stevens in Abbeville forty-four years. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Abbeville where he served as an assistant Sunday School teacher. Charlie was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Stinson and Bob Stinson, two nephews, Allen Wayne Stinson and Loyd LaDon (Don Don) Stinson and two great-grandchildren, Aaliyah Jordan Scoggins and Haley Alyssa Scoggins.



            Surviving relatives include his wife, Mary Frances Howerton Stinson, Abbeville; a daughter, Pam Murphy, Abbeville; two sisters, Suanne Chapman, Colquitt, GA and Faye Daughtry, Abbeville; two brothers, Mark Stinson and wife, Imogene, and Don Stinson and wife, Ruby Grace, all of Abbeville; two grandchildren, Tina Murphy and Gina Murphy; numerous nieces and nephews.



            Serving as active pallbearers will be Chris Daughtry, Michael Daughtry, Lee Chapman, Keith Stinson, Alan Stinson, Sean Stinson and James Stinson.
